BLESSED

$4500

This striking figurative painting presents an intimate close-up of aged, weathered hands gripping an open book — likely a Bible or sacred text — against a dramatically dark background. The composition employs a powerful chiaroscuro technique reminiscent of Caravaggio's theatrical use of light and shadow, with a single focused light source illuminating the deeply lined, textured hands while the surrounding figure remains shrouded in darkness beneath a dark hooded garment. The rendering of the hands is masterfully detailed, capturing every wrinkle, vein, and knuckle with photorealistic precision that speaks to a lifetime of labor and devotion.
